Throwback to 2014

Before there was a name, a logo, or even a formal plan, there was a simple idea — to use what we had, where we were, to help where it mattered most.

Back in 2014, what would eventually become Sew Bee-Cause began as a grassroots effort to transform preloved fabric into clothing for vulnerable children. We called ourselves Rags to Riches UAE — and true to that name, we believed that even the humblest scrap could be turned into something beautiful and useful with a little love and a lot of thread.

✈️ The Shipments That Started It All

Each early shipment told a story — not just of clothes, but of connection, care, and compassion.

  • Golden Heart Foundation – Pune & Delhi, India: Golden Heart supports vulnerable children and families. We sent handmade children’s clothing and accessories sewn from up-cycled materials.
  • Prema Samajam Trust – Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: A home for orphans and children who are blind, deaf, or living with disabilities. They received lovingly made garments and comfort items.
  • Jordan Children’s Shelter: We provided clothing and simple toys to a shelter for displaced and orphaned children.
  • Nepal: Winter wear and hygiene kits were sent to underserved rural communities, coordinated by our early team volunteers.
  • Romania: Shipments included fleece blankets and accessories for children in institutional care.
  • South Africa: Summer dresses, hats, and handmade toys were delivered to children in need through local connections, thanks to volunteer Pam Marsh.
  • Kenya: We sent fleece sets and other clothing to small villages where cold nights posed risks for children.
  • Scotland – Isle of Lewis: Scarves, tote bags, and drawstring kits reached a winter outreach program led by Jade Al Cheikh.
  • Kampala, Uganda: Early shipments were delivered as part of a needs assessment for future community engagement.

From Clothes to Kits: The Birth of Angel Wings®

As we stitched more and listened closely to the communities we served, a new need came into sharp focus — one that was rarely spoken about, but deeply felt: menstrual health and dignity.

From those early boxes of clothing, the idea for Angel Wings® was born — thoughtfully designed, reusable menstrual kits sewn with the same compassion that shaped our first shipments.

Each Angel Wings® Kit includes handmade, reusable pads, underwear, soap, and a cross-body bag — all crafted to be beautiful, practical, and empowering. They are now one of the most requested items we produce and have reached communities in Kenya, Nepal, Lebanon, and beyond.

What began with dresses and shirts has grown into a movement to restore dignity during one of the most vulnerable times in a girl’s life.

Sewing a Movement

Looking back now, it’s clear that this was more than just making a change. It was the birth of a movement — one that believed in dignity through design, hope through handmade and sustainable items, and change through community.

From clothing to menstrual health kits, from the UAE to underserved communities around the world, our mission has grown — but our heart remains the same:

We stitch to serve. We stitch to uplift. We stitch to remind others they are not forgotten.

To those who stood with us in those early days: thank you. And to those just discovering us now — welcome. You’re a vital part of where we’re going next.

Want to be part of the next chapter?

We’re always looking for passionate hands and kind hearts. Whether you sew, sort, sponsor or simply share, there’s a place for you in this hive.

👉 Get involved or drop us a message — let’s keep this movement buzzing.

Here’s to creating change together, one stitch at a time.
